Hey there, creative person. You might not work in advertising, you may spend your days working with wood, paper, music, science, code, statistics, technology or any other field. But that doesn't mean you're any less creative than people who generate ideas for a living.
So, here's the jist. There are some people in Amsterdam that like you and want you over there. Their names are Nico and Hanneke and they're the coordinators of 72U (Facebook event, over here), a spin-off creative hub by 72&Sunny that sprung in the mind of the agency's founder, John Boiler.
The idea is this: creatives of all nationalities are invited to come to Amsterdam between September 26th - December 16th. Their accomodations (transport & board) are paid for, and they'll be getting an allowance. Over there, they'll work on customized briefs & projects in a three-month creativity "camp".
Submissions (portfolio & a set of questions) are accepted by the 15th of June, so get typing on those keyboards.
Doubtful, but if you need more detailed reasons as to why you should apply ASAP, here's Nico Stumpo and Hanneke Matselaar giving them to you below.

Coordinating 72U
We're a creative couple and we've been working together since 2005. We now have an Imagination studio called Thisisarobot (a multidisciplinary creative studio) here in Amsterdam. Our extensive experience working with international brands allow us to take a 360º approach. We don’t focus on a single medium to spread the message. Rather, we focus on the whole experience in order to convey a unified message to the end viewer.
We aim to bring this approach to 72U, because it’s important for us to work with people who have various skills and talents.
72U: whose idea was it?
The idea started from the LA office. It sparkled in the mind of John Boiler (Founder of 72andSunny). He wanted to create a learning space inside the agency that was the purest expression of our company vision: to be a platform for personal growth and creative self-expression. 72U is all about inspiring new creative talent on their own journey in this ever-changing creative world.
Creative hybrids on an international scale
The new generation of creatives are hybrids; they all have different skill sets, they are not just photographers or writers, they are confident working in many fields. They are writers, painters, photographers, musicians and more.
This new generation has the opportunity to try different forms of expression and master them thanks to technological developments. New generations are learning that the world offers many ways to look at a single issue.
72U is about understanding how to create full experiences that leave strong memories for the audience.
Objectives relating to 72andSunny
The main objective is to open the agency to the outside world, creating a bond with the city of Amsterdam. We want to work on projects that have a cultural impact and make a clear statement. But also, this project is a true testament to 72andSunny’s mission to be a platform for personal growth and creative self-expression.
And, of course, to inspire and be inspired by a new generation of creatives.
For those unsure: can really any type of creative apply?
Yes, any type of creative is welcome to apply. The more diverse backgrounds 72U participants have, the more exciting and innovative the programme will be, giving them the tools to make a positive impact in Amsterdam and beyond, regardless of the career path they will choose.
What should the participants expect? Schedules, activities
These three months are going to change their lives. The project and the briefs that we are going to work on are tailored based on the skill sets of the creatives that we select. The team is always going to work together and will often interact with other talents inside the agency.
Each creative is going to have a mentor who will guide him or her during the three months.
Any hiring opportunities at 72andSunny Amsterdam afterwards?
There are always opportunities.
