Idea
Every year Pantone chooses the Colour of the Year, to draw attention to how colourful and energising our nature is. For 2019 Pantone picked the Living Coral. Their chosen colour always becomes a reference in the world of design and fashion. However, we tend to forget that the original colour might reflect something more important than that. Pantone's choice of Living Coral represents a lot more than just a colour. It also highlights a devastating phenomenon that's been happening lately in the world: the loss of about 55% of coral reefs. Inspired by Pantone's Color of the Year we've created an eye-opening, powerful visual focusing on this serious global problem of corals. Our poster ad conveyed our message, raising awareness of endangered corals in a shocking yet aesthetic way. The campaign started a conversation and become a icon for a global issue and made everyone realise that coral–is much more than just a colour.
