Role and client overview
The Senior Account Manager role is the lynchpin for the client relationship being the lead client contact for key projects, developing accurate cost estimates and formal budgets and providing sound forecasting along the way. As a Senior Account Manager, you will be expected to identify opportunities for business growth recommending ways to deliver this.
You will need to keep the client account running smoothly by utilising and managing company resources to pre-empt and manage client requirements, deliver successful jobs and projects for clients, maintain a profitable service and ‘go the extra mile’ in representing McCann Central.

Here are your key responsibilities as a Senior Account Manager in McCann Central:
1. Understanding the business inside and out
o Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of client’s business, market, competitors, marcom mix and relevant media platforms; keep this updated at all times and ensure team do; exploit agency marketing tools to understand client brand and business; advise clients and identify growth opportunities as a result of your understanding
2. Creativity
o With your team, manage understanding of briefing process and what is required both from a client perspective (budget, timescales, briefs etc) and from an internal perspective (consumer insight, production information, competitor awareness etc).
o Take a brief, identify the relevant approach and draft relevant materials depending on your area of business.
o Help your brands find their truth and turn that truth into creative ideas to build a more meaningful role for those brands.
o Balance the demands between client requirements and creative ideas; manage the tension between client demands and creative demands professionally and within your area of control.
3. Creating demand and driving for results
o Spot business opportunities and work with seniors to leverage these; manage timely reporting through team.
o Utilise company tools, systems and data according to your area of business, sharing information regularly with relevant people /teams; ensure jobs are scheduled on time and budget, regularly monitoring progress and costs, highlight any issues immediately with relevant people.
o Maintain strong understanding of full briefing process and what is required both from a client perspective (budget, timescales, briefs etc.) and from an internal perspective (consumer insight, production information, competitor awareness etc.).
o Coordinate the agency’s strategic and creative response to briefs, helping to evaluate responses in terms of quality and budget and benchmarking against objectives/KPIs set
o Take ownership and lead more advanced projects and campaigns; manage and execute specific campaigns; present creative concepts to client.
4. Commercial and financial know-how
o Understand and manage the agency financials for your client area (invoicing, suppliers and mark-up, revenue and time; hourly rates); monitor profitability and budgets of individual jobs
5. Managing relationships and teamwork
o Manage the production and creative process to meet agreed schedules and deliverables; support your team to build positive relationships and work closely with other departments.
o Develop strong relationships in your team and across the wider agency with other departments.
o Develop effective relationships with client contacts and with external suppliers and third parties; manage these relationships to ensure client satisfaction.
o Work with your senior manager and the Creative team to deliver creative excellence and produce ideas which answer the brief whilst exciting and challenging the client; take an active role in the objective and constructive review of creative work

o Manage administrative elements of your role including: internal and external systems; job numbers and associated information; timesheet completion; approval and distribution of contact reports within 48 hours of meeting; proof-read documents or presentations for clients prior to despatch; ensure creative ideas match the brief; identify and manage deliverable risks as required and respond accordingly
o Ensure work is always of high quality; respond promptly to client requests and manage expectations with them; produce accurate quotations; manage jobs within scope of work; provide quality briefs every time; manage KPIs across team
o Ask questions, show enthusiasm, give that little bit extra when needed without being asked; know what the agency can offer clients and build strong relationships in other parts of the business.
7. Integration
o Work closely with other teams in client services and develop effective relationships with other departments with a sound understanding of what they do and how they do it
8. Security and intellectual property
o Take actions to protect Agency intellectual property and output to ensure third parties don’t have access.
o Ensure all materials submitted to client are protected and branded with Agency credentials.
o Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements for Agency and clients.
o Ensure data protection is upheld for all client and Agency data/information.

o Deliver efficient reporting by utilising Agency systems and processes
o Provide management reporting according to your role using client and agency systems (such as CODE, Excel etc)

o Keep abreast of marketing trends and innovations; understand how to apply these to the client work you are delivering.
o Apply your cultural and language awareness across all client campaigns; ensure translations are appropriate and effective for the region/country and language.
